Abstract

The coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic has damaged both schools and universities in the world's education system resulting in closures. According to data from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), Indonesia is in the top 20 list in the world.To be precise, it is in the 18th position with the number of cases reaching 1,837,126 (as of June 24, 2021),and the death toll reached 51,059.Efforts are needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and understanding of the participants in the socialization and apply the 5M health protocol as a response to COVID-19, and can apply it in daily life against the government's appeal regarding health protocol actions.The method of implementing Community Service activities is in the form of socialization or counseling with the lecture method to participants at SMK Bina Jaya Palembang, then given a leaflet about Hand Washing and Social Distancing / Maintaining the Right Distance During the Covid-19 Pandemic At SMK Bina Jaya Palembang,as many as 17 people.The results of the socialization activities for the participants showed that there was an increase in the knowledge and understanding of the participants regarding the material given with a total score in the percentage of 86%.The material presented can be understood by every participant of the socialization and is also very useful, which in the end can change students at SMK Bina Jaya Palembang in a positive direction, namely being able to and always applying it in their daily lives by carrying out the government's appeal regarding Hand Washing and Social Distancing / Maintaining the Right Distance During the Covid-19 Pandemic In Vocational Schools Bina Jaya Palembang.The conclusion is that the students' knowledge and understanding of proper handwashing and social distancing/maintaining distance during the Covid-19 pandemic will increase. It is recommended to all participants who do not know and understand about Hand Washing and Social Distancing / Maintaining the Correct Distance During the Covid-19 Pandemic. in order to further increase knowledge and understand the application of the 5M Health Protocol as a response to Covid-19 at SMK Bina Jaya Palembang.
