Abstract

Examination of STH worm eggs (Soil Transminted Helminth) can be done using a flotation method that is more efficient than sedimentation, because it produces a cleaner preparation than the sedimentation procedure. Flotation method can use saturated NaCl solution or saturated sugar to see worm eggs by floating. Flour sugar is granulated sugar that is mashed to a flour-like shape that is given cornstarch so that it does not clot so that it can be used as an alternative reagent in the flotation method.  This method can be used in the examination of feces containing a small amount of eggs. The way it works is based on the specific gravity of the solution used, so that the eggs float on the surface and also to separate large particles contained in feces. The main focus of the activity is to improve the understanding and knowledge. Participants of the activity are medical officers of Musi Medika Cendikia Hospital who will be given education amounting to 15 people. The results of the evaluation of the value of pre-test and post-test educational activities have increased which means that medical officers of Musi Medika Cendikia Palembang hospital better understand and increase knowledge about education in identifying the quality of worm egg preparations using sugar flour as an alternative reagent in the flotation method properly.
