Abstract

Scoliosis is a three-dimensional spinal deformity characterized by a lateral curvature greater than or equal to 10 degrees based on the Cobb angle measured on a standing X-ray. If left untreated, progressive scoliosis can lead to significant thoracic deformity, chronic back pain, neurological disorders due to nerve compression, and impaired cardiorespiratory function in severe curves (>40–50 degrees). Gender is an important risk factor in the development of AIS (Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis). Recent data shows that girls have an 8–10 times higher risk of developing AIS compared to boys, especially during puberty. The community service activity was conducted on February 12, 2026, at SMP Putra Maju with 20 participants. This activity uses educational methods and early detection of scoliosis in adolescents, as well as scoliosis measurement using a scoliometer. From this activity, it can provide knowledge to teenagers about the dangers, causes, and management of scoliosis
