Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that has become a public health problem because it often does not cause symptoms in its early stages. Women of reproductive age and premenopausal women are among the groups at risk of developing hypertension. This condition is caused by hormonal changes and unhealthy lifestyles, such as excessive salt intake, lack of physical activity, stress, and low awareness of regular health check-ups. Data obtained from the Cangkringan Community Health Center showed that hypertension was the most common health problem in the area. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of women of reproductive age and premenopausal women regarding healthy lifestyles as an effort to prevent hypertension in Manggong Hamlet, Kepuharjo Village, Cangkringan District, Sleman Regency. The activity involved 30 participants and was conducted through health education using interactive lectures, discussions, and Q&A sessions. Evaluation conducted through pre-test and post-test questionnaires aimed to measure changes in participants’ knowledge. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, with the average score increasing from 53.33 (SD ± 9.942) in the pre-test to 94.67 (SD ± 6.814) in the post-test. In addition, 83.3% of the participants stated that they were satisfied, while 16.7% stated that they were moderately satisfied with the implementation of the activity. This health education is proven effective in increasing participants’ knowledge about hypertension, its risk factors, and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle through limiting salt intake, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, and undergoing regular blood pressure checks. Moreover, this activity is expected to serve as a promotive and preventive effort in supporting hypertension prevention and improving community health.
